The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.

Moutet saved four initial opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he secured victory with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
